What Is Image Watermark Text?

A text watermark tool lets you add customizable text overlays to your images for copyright protection, branding, or identification. Control the text content, font size, opacity, color, and position. Choose from six position options including a tile mode that repeats the watermark across the entire image at an angle for maximum protection. The opacity control lets you make the watermark subtle enough to not distract. All processing happens in your browser — your images are never uploaded.

Why Use Image Watermark Text?

  • Full control over text, size, opacity, color, and position
  • Tile mode for repeating watermark across the entire image
  • Six position presets plus diagonal tiling
  • All processing in browser — images stay private

Technical Guide

Text watermarking uses the Canvas API fillText method to render text on top of the image. Font is set via ctx.font, color via ctx.fillStyle, and transparency via ctx.globalAlpha. Position calculations use ctx.measureText for text width measurement. The tile mode rotates the canvas context and renders text in a grid pattern across an expanded area. After rendering, the context transform and alpha are reset.

Tips & Best Practices

  • 1
Use 30-50% opacity for a visible but unobtrusive watermark
  • 2
White text with slight transparency works well on most photos
  • 3
Tile mode provides the best protection against cropping out the watermark
  • 4
Use the copyright symbol followed by your name for standard copyright watermarks
